About the Photographer

The Photographer
Born in New York and raised in Connecticut, Dr. Deborah Huntley completed her doctorate in chemistry at Cornell University in 1983. For nearly 15 years, she worked as a research chemist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. In 1998, she accepted a faculty position in the chemistry department at Saginaw Valley State University where she now serves as the provost and vice president for academic affairs.
Deborah currently serves on several community boards, including the United Way of Saginaw County, the Field Neurosciences Institute, the Marshall Fredericks Sculpture Museum, and the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra, where she holds the position of president.
She has enjoyed photography since childhood when her parents gave her a Kodak Brownie Camera. Her passion for photography complements her enthusiasm for adventure and travel. She and her husband Al, also a photographer, have traveled extensively and have visited five continents, thirty countries, and forty-eight states. They love exploring new cultures, cuisines and landscapes and look forward to much more travel in the future. They live in Saginaw Township with their adoring dog and indifferent cat. They are very proud of their two adult children, Eric and Ellen, who both reside on the East Coast.
